Gary Wang

Driven, passionate and strongly committed, Gary takes great pride in his self-made background. The fact that he had to quit school only after the first semester in senior high did not stop him from dreaming big. In the following 7 years, he completed his high school, college, and graduate studies in English language by himself while working as a highly effective high-school English teacher for 4 years.

His business career began in 1992 as Secretary and Translator for a Sino-Spanish joint venture based in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, where he worked for two and a half years closely with the General Manager and key board members, learning his first lessons in business. He then joined Sony in Guangzhou as a Marketing Representative responsible for setting up the distribution network for Sony Recording Media & Energy products in the South and West China. During 8 years with Sony in both Guangzhou and Shanghai, he rose the ranks and eventually became one of the highest-ranking Chinese national in the company and the first National Account Sales Manager for Sony China’s Consumer Electronics Division, then a ?1 billion sales channel with giant retail chain customers such as Guomei, Suning, Yongle, Carrefour, Wal-Mart, Metro and Sam’s Club. Today this channel contributes more than ?6 billion of sales revenue to Sony China.

He then joined DuPont China as the Greater China Country Manager for Imaging Technologies based in Shanghai. During the three and a half years in that role, he doubled the business and grew DuPont’s market share from 56% to 80%, making Greater China the biggest market in Asia Pacific in terms of revenue and ATOI.

After a brief stint with Dell China as the Senior Sales Manager for the International Group, Gary founded MindSpan Learning (www.mindspan.cn) in April 2006, an evolving learning & development platform integrating executive coaching, corporate training, speaking, consulting, online bookselling and a powerful Resource Center targeting top-tier China-based companies and Chinese managers, professionals and entrepreneurs.

Advocating that human beings should take full control of their destiny and everyone can aspire to success through IDG (Initiative, Drive and Generosity), Gary follows his heart and embraces the extraordinary power of dream. He declares that most people use only a fraction of their potential, and stands to be a catalyst for leaders and people to express their full capabilities and reach their greatest success.

Gary lives in Shanghai with his wife and daughter, and speaks fluent Chinese, English, Cantonese and Shanghai dialect.
