Building Effective Marketing Plan

Strategic marketing plan preparation is an important task for highly successful marketers.  Preparing a comprehensive and a complete Marketing Program that combines marketing concepts, tools and principles to develop its core competencies  that could support  China and global strategy is quite a challenging task!

Executive Learning Center faciliated an 8-day Advanced Marketing Leadership Program that met our client needs.  Our case study below has the details.

The Client

The client is a US leading technology company in digital signal processing.  Their products are used for military surveillance systems, mobile phones, electronic devices and appliances and satellite communication systems.

The Need

They understand that in order to strengthen their marketing position in China and Asia, they needed to upgrade the skills and knowledge of their senior marketing staff in Asia.  They would like to develop a Marketing Planning Discipline based on their global standards, however, one that is appropriate for the Asian markets.  By the end of the learning program, their marketing personnel should be able to complete 80% of their respective product line marketing plans.  The plans will then be submitted to US Headquarters for review and budget approval.

The Solution

Program Execution.   Using our learning quality system, (see Methodology for Effective Learning Management document for details, pages 2-3), Executive Learning Center defined the business and learning objectives of our client and proposed an eight (8) day Strategic Marketing Leadership Program.

The Program was implemented according to the following plan: 1. Training Needs Analysis & Learners Assessment 2. Program Design & Development. 3. Program Delivery. The program components are as follows: o Pre-Learning Sessions Assignments o Learning Workshops (4 sessions, 2 days each) o In-between Sessions Assignment o Marketing Plan Preparation & Completion (at least 80% at the end of the Program) 4. Results Evaluation & Monitoring. Executive Learning Center, together with the Client, developed learning results evaluation and monitoring tool that will be used by the Marketing Director to gather evidence of learning and business impact.

Program Management.  Regular meetings with the Client and the Trainers’ Team were conducted. Every learning session was evaluated and areas for improvement were identified as inputs for the next session. Our Learning Consultant consolidated feedbacks from the Participants, Trainers and the Program Sponsors into an Evaluation Report.

Program Duration. Four (4) Months; two (2) days per month.

The Result

Marketing Plans Development.   Using the marketing planning tool that Executive Learning Center’s Trainers had provided, the Participants achieved close to 80% of their plans by the end of the Program.  After two (2) months, we got a feedback from the Marketing Director that their head office in the US has approved almost all the product segments marketing plans that his staff had developed supported by Executive Learning Center’s training and budgets had been provided.
